This week Reverb got a chance to chat with about his upcoming show at the Gothic Theatre on Feb. 12, but all he wanted to talk about was the Broncos.
“I’ll be rooting for the Broncos because Pete Carroll is a f***ing jag bag,” Malkmus said, referencing “Wig Out at Jag Bags,” the newest release from his band the Jicks. “If you want to know about the album title look at Pete Carroll.”
Malkmus, an indie-rock hero and unlikely sports fan, will be in Amsterdam for the Super Bowl, which he jokingly calls the “Football capitol of Europe.”
“I’m a fan of Julius Thomas your tight end and I think it’s going to be a great game,” said Malkmus, who currently lives in Portland, Ore. “I’ve learned to appreciate Peyton Manning.”
Check back for our full interview with Malkmus next week.
