In a surprise move, Saturday Night Live alum Fred Armisen has signed on as the bandleader for “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”

Armisen will join Meyers — who will be filling the shoes of Jimmy Fallon at “Late Night” after 13 years as a writer (and later head writer) on SNL — starting Monday, February 24.

“Fred will curate and lead the band, and continue to run it even when he’s off shooting Portlandia,” Meyers tweeted on Monday.

Armisen is best known for his comedic work, but has been a drummer since high school. Not only will he lead the G8 band, the partnership confirms that we’re in for some hilarious late-night banter.
