3) The Fray — Twist & Shout, Feb. 22

In celebration of the release of its fourth album “Helios” on Feb. 25, Denver’s the Fray will make an intimate appearance at independent record store Twist and Shout on Feb. 22. This nice pairing of two important Denver music institutions includes an intimate in-store performance and a meet-and-greet after the show. For a band that typically plays in front of thousands — most recently its halftime show at the Broncos AFC championship game in January — intimate might even be an understatement. Fans who purchase “Helios” at Twist and Shout will get access to the show and meet-and-greet.

2) Shigeto, RUMTUM, Inner Oceans, Kitty Crimes — Larimer Lounge, Feb. 27

Atmospheric electronic jazz artist Shigeto headlines Denver’s first Red Bull Sound Select concert at the Larimer Lounge on Feb. 27. As many artists of his genre, the Michigan producer rose to popularity through Soundcloud thanks to his beat-driven, collage-like compositions. Experimental, along the same lines as Flying Lotus, Shigeto takes the type of architectural obsession to fit together seemingly unrelated samples — a wood block here, a shout in a distance, what sounds like hitting a trash can. To round out the show, Shigeto is joined by Rumtum and Denver’s Inner Oceans and Kitty Crimes.

1) Lord Huron — Ogden Theatre, Feb. 21

Returning for the second time since headlining the Denver Postap Underground Music Showcase in 2013, Lord Huron stops at the Ogden Theatre on Feb. 21. Drawing a huge crowd at UMS last summer and selling out the Fillmore Auditorium with Alt-J in September, the indie-folk band has been building a steady fan-base since its 2012 debut, “Lonesome Dreams.” A familiar take on the popular indie-folk sound, Lord Huron bathes tasteful acoustic ballads in a warm light with his accessible writing.
