Dalai Lama offers historic prayer in U.S. Senate
The U.S. Senate opened Thursday morning with a prayer from an unusual guest: The Dalai Lama.Though the upper chamber of Congress routinely opens with a prayer, it's usually from the Senate chaplain, historically a clergy member from a mainline Protestant congregation.
