Rapper says serving prison time in a Louisiana prison was life changing and it’s made him a better person and ultimately, he hopes, a better artist.

Lil Boosie, whose real name is Torence Hatch, was released last week from a four-year stint in maximum security prison at Angola.

On Monday, he held a news conference at a New Orleans hotel to talk about his future.

After reacquainting himself with his seven children, Lil Boosie says he wants to get back into the studio.

While imprisoned following a 2009 drug conviction, he says he wrote more than 1,000 songs.

The MC most recently released “Come to the Can” with incarcerated rapper C-Murder.

In addition to revealing at times he spent more almost 24 hours in solitary, Boosie said artists like Young Jeezy and Plies kept his spirits high. Having been away for more than four years, Boosie is prepared to bring a different style of music back to radio.

“What I’ve been hearing these days on the radio, itap different from music. Different brings greatness. I feel like I stand alone in the music industry,” he explained.

Lil Boosie added that the hip-hop game is “wide open for me to take over.”
