The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office has cleared the Westminster SWAT team in its use of deadly force against a hostage-taker during a standoff in Arvada last month.
Officers shot and killed Don Pooley, 34, the morning of Feb. 4 following an all-night standoff.
All officers involved were cleared of any wrongdoing, according to a Tuesday news release from the Westminster Police Department.
Pooley held a 13-year-old boy, who he did not know, captive for about 18 hours.
A parole absconder, Pooley told authorities and family he had no intention of going back to prison during the standoff.
The boy was rescued unharmed.
