
The Action Center in Lakewood broke ground April 15 on a $4.2 million Program Services Building.
The project will expand on an existing building at the nonprofit organization’s 8755 W. 14th Ave address.

“This expansion will allow allow us to have the ability to provide more in-depth programming to allow us to address both ends of our mission statement; providing for immediate needs which are important but also pathways to long term self-sufficiency,” Strittmatter said.
The 14,000 square foot, two-story building will house a clothing bank, food bank, processing and programming areas, storage, a community clinic and a self-select food pantry.
“Right now we pack food to order and now having a self-select pantry gives a deeper sense of dignity and respect by allowing people to shop for the food they will eat,” Strittmatter said.
