Over the Easter weekend, made hip-hop history as the first MC to rap at the White House. The Detroit native joined Ariana Grande for the 2014 Easter Egg Roll on The White House lawn performing, “Right There,” before being joined by Grande for a breathy and totally G-rated performance.

is a Nickelodeon star who has made waves with her powerful vocals and girlish hairstyle. The singer performed in front of parents and the kiddos for the Easter Egg Roll flanked by pastel overall clad dancers.

Back in 2011, Common performed a small poetry set , but Big Sean’s rap performance is being marked as the first hip-hop performance in White House history. Despite Jay-Z’s numerous tracks that name-drop the Obama administration, not even Jiggaman has performed a live hip-hop set at the White House.

President Barack Obama has not been shy about his hip-hop affiliations. He’s worked with Jay-Z, says he like some of Lil Wayne’s songs and most certainly employs a bit of rap swag to his persona. Inviting hip-hop stars to the White House on Easter might just mean a turn of the tide, however.

Big Sean’s lyrics are safer than say, Ice-T but a rapper is a rapper and the White House is the White House. Perhaps we could be looking at a very Snoop Dogg Christmas at the rose garden in the near future.
