Getting your player ready...

Interview with Craig Davidson, owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: After becoming unemployed in March 1989 due to the company I worked for relocating to Texas, I found myself with some free time. Always having a love for comics and toys as a child, I decided to try turning that passion into a money-making business. Twenty-five years later, here we are.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: Hero Headquarters prides itself on friendly customer service first and foremost. Many out-of-town customers visiting our shop have been very impressed with the size, products offered and friendly service we offer. Most have stated it was the nicest shop of its kind they have ever seen. We also are always trying to get bigger and better in everything we do, such as offer more products to our customers.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: This is the funnest job I can ever imagine having. Not many people can say they love to go to work every day. I can think of nothing else I would rather do than this. I could win Powerball tomorrow and I would still do this job, just even bigger.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: The biggest challenge of this business is finding time to do anything other than this business. When you love what you do, it can be very consuming. But to be successful means to give something your all. I am not content to just coast through this job. I am always looking for ways to improve everything we do.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: It is way harder work than anyone would ever think. A lot of people think, “How cool to be able to read comics and play with toys all day.” Nothing could be further from the truth. This job requires a huge amount of knowledge of not just the thousands of products we carry, but also a vast business knowledge.
