1 Careless driver causes property damage. On April 27, Edgewater police officers responded to a property damage traffic accident in the 2500 block of Sheridan Boulevard. A 20-year-old Westminster man was arrested for DUI, careless driving, hit and run, unlicensed driving, illegal underage possession of an alcoholic beverage, no proof of insurance and a warrant.

2 Liquor store burglarized. On April 24, officers responded to J & J Liquor, 1711 Sheridan Blvd., Edgewater, regarding a burglary alarm. The officers discovered that the business had been burglarized with a window smash. Besides the damage caused by the shattered business window, the suspect(s) removed several bottles and cases of alcoholic beverages from the business. The case is under investigation.

3 Man assaults wife. On April 16, Lakewood police officers arrested a man for domestic violence and assault. The man allegedly assaulted his wife at their residence in the 5300 block of West Fifth Avenue
. The woman suffered minor injuries.

4 Dog fight. Lakewood officers were dispatched April 16 to a dog fight in the 500 block of Dover Street. A dog got loose, jumped a fence and began fighting with another dog. Both dogs had minor injuries. The owner of the loose dog was issued a summons.

5 Mad Hatter. On April 15, a woman was arrested in front of Mad Hatter’s Smoke Shop, 6091 W. Colfax Ave. She was intoxicated from drinking a can of Steel Reserve, and she was the subject of an restraining order prohibiting her from consuming alcohol.
