CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) — Authorities say a Canon City man has disappeared after wading into the Arkansas River to rescue his dog.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Department says the 42-year-old man was fishing with a friend near Florence in southern Colorado on Monday when he vanished.
His name hasn’t been released.
The Canon City Daily Record reports (http://tinyurl.com/q7hxyn8 ) the man was able to get his dog back to the river bank.
Sheriff’s deputies used a helicopter to search for the man Monday but had no success.
Authorities planned to resume the hunt Tuesday.
