Interview with Sam Dehghani, owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: The opportunity to own the diner presented itself in 2008 and I seized it. Rosie’s diner is the jewel of diners. It was built in New Jersey by Paramount Moudular Company and transferred to Aurora. I have enjoyed operating Rosie’s Diner and am planning on operating it for many years to come.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared from fresh ingredients at Rosie’s Diner. You can play songs on the table top juke boxes while enjoying your meal and sipping on a handmade shake or malt. Parents bring their kids to the diner to show them the neon lights and expose them to the oldies music. Rosies Diner is a great place to eat, drink and travel back in time.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: Providing great food and a fun experience for our customers. Making money, having fun doing it and making a lot of friends along the way.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Trying to be the best at what we do while the cost of doing business goes up all the time. Our commitment to quality does not allow us to cut any corners. We have to be very focused and disciplined when it comes to customer service. We keep our staff to very high standards and that is a challenge we have to work on all the times.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: Our diner was built in New Jersey and was transferred here on flatbed trucks. We sell more than 50 types of old fashioned candies. Our head server, Nida, never uses a note pad to write down her orders no matter how many are in the party. She will remember what you ordered if you come back to Rosie’s six months later.
