Pittsburgh — Troy Tulowitzki was immediately removed from Saturday’s Rockies game against the Pirates after injuring his left leg in the fourth inning.
Tulowitzki ran out a soft grounder to Pittsburgh shortstop Jordy Mercer. And two-thirds down the first base line, he pulled up and grabbed his upper left leg — in what appeared to be a quad injury.
The Rockies replaced him with Josh Rutledge at shortstop to start the bottom of the fourth inning.
Tulowitzki has played in 91 of the Rockies’ 97 games this season, his healthiest year since 2009 when he played in 151. He is among the top three National League hitters in nearly every major offensive category and earned was the top vote-getter in the NL for last week’s All-Star Game, his fourth.
This post will be updated with more information on Tulowitzki’s injury as it becomes available.
