Jefferson County health officials on Tuesday identified their first case of West Nile virus in a mosquito this season.
The county is one of several across the state that have identified the virus after testing mosquito samples. Health officials collected in Adams, Boulder, Delta, Mesa and Weld counties had the virus.
Four human cases of West Nile virus in counties that include have been reported in the state this year.
Colorado had about 320 cases of the West Nile virus last year.
