COLORADO SPRINGS — Parents who already are dreading the bottleneck congestion that occurs at student drop-off and pickup areas may want to familiarize themselves with the phrases “bike train” and “walking school bus.”
Colorado Springs’ Mountain Metropolitan Transit offers a free “schoolpool” program that connects families that want to do en masse alternative transportation or carpooling.
Parents can sign up their kids to ride their bikes to school in a group, or “bike train,” walk in a group, or “walking school bus,” or take a city bus together.
The city bus costs 85 cents per trip for riders 18 and younger.
