Regis Jesuit point guard Jessica Lewis has pledged to attend West Point, according to Raiders head coach Carl Mattei.
“She wants to serve her country,” the coach said.
Lewis, a steadying influence last season as a junior while playing with a talented bunch of seniors, had considerable interest elsewhere, including from Davidson, Dartmouth, Old Dominion and Harvard. She also carries a 4.6 grade-point average.
“She wants to be a doctor and I’m so proud of her,” Mattei said.
In 2013-14, Lewis averaged 6.8 points and 5.0 assists. She is one of two seniors on the 2014-15 Raiders, who are two-time defending state champions and 52-4 over the span, with only one loss against an in-state team (ThunderRidge in Highlands Ranch).
It is the 11th straight season the Raiders have featured a Division I signing.
