1 Anthem antics. On Aug. 3, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Bandimere Speedway, 3051 S. Rooney Road, Morrison, after an altercation arose when a man wouldn’t take his hat off during the national anthem. The situation worsened when another man took the hat and threw it in a trash can. Both parties had different accounts and both were cited for disorderly conduct.

2 Vulgar rock found under car. On July 31, deputies responded to the 8000 block of Johnson Court, Ken-Caryl, after a man found a rock about the size of a softball and with a dirty picture drawn on it under his car. The victim said he thought an older teen nearby had done it and would talk to the parents.

3 Strange car abandoned in area. Deputies responded to a strange-vehicle call on July 30 in the 11000 block of West Dumbarton Way in the Littleton area. The car had been parked on the block for more than three weeks and a note expressing concern for the owner was on the car. The deputy located the owner who said he was fine, but the car had broken down and he could not move it.

4 Grandparents report scam attempt. On July 30, a couple called deputies after they were nearly victims of a scam. A deputy responded to the 12600 block of Progress Avenue in the Littleton area, and learned that the couple received a call they believed to be from their grandson who said he was in jail and needed money to get out. The couple went to a Walmart to send the money, but later learned that it might be a scam. They were able to stop the transaction and contacted their grandson, who was not in jail.
