When Brooks Marsted got interested in collecting wine, his condo in Denver didn’t allow him much space to let his collection grow.
As he looked for a convenient spot to store his bottles, he realized he wanted something else as well.
“I was looking for a place not just to store, but also a place to meet other wine enthusiasts, people I can share wine with and enjoy good food with,” he said.
While Marsted’s main job is in wealth management, he decided he would start a side business to solve his own problem and — he correctly surmised — a problem that others were grappling with. He opened Corkscrews Wine and Beer Storage in Denver in June 2012 — and, six months ago, a second storage spot in Boulder, where most customers are stashing cases, kegs and bottles of beer.
