A fatal, three-vehicle crash closed U.S. 6 west of Golden for much of Wednesday afternoon and evening.
The road was closed from Clear Creek Canyon to Colorado 119, adding to traffic problems caused by a rockslide that has shut down the nearby Central City Parkway since Tuesday.
The road finally reopened a little before 9:30 p.m.
Trooper Nate Reid told 7News that a pickup truck traveling east came down the canyon around the curve and drifted out of the lane, hitting a green Oldsmobile heading west. The Oldsmobile then spun into oncoming traffic and was struck by a tractor-trailer, killing the passenger of the car.
The driver of the Oldsmobile and the driver of the semi-truck were taken to a hospital.
