Lindsey Horan scored two goals and assisted on another to power the U.S. U-20 team to a on Tuesday to propel the squad to the quarterfinals of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Horan, a graduate of Golden High, struck twice in the first half, scoring in the 19th and 38th minutes. In the second half, she connected with Rose Lavelle in the 49th minute.
It was Horan’s second and third goals in the tournament. She has scored 23 goals in 24 games with the U-20 team.
Team USA finished second place in Group B and will advance to play the winner of Group A at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Mountain Vista junior-to-be Mallory Pugh — the team’s youngest player at 16 — started in midfield for the U.S.
