Getting your player ready...

There are just 43 games left in the Rockies’ season. There is a chance that Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez, the team’s biggest stars, won’t play in any of them.

Rockies manager Walt Weiss has made it clear that he would like both players to return and finish the season strong, but there are no guarantees that will happen.

Both Tulo and CarGo were scheduled to visit specialists in Colorado on Wednesday to discuss treatment options and get updates on their injuries.

Tulowitkzi hasn’t played since July 19 because of what the team is calling a strained left hip flexor. However, the injury has been slow to heal and the Rockies want to make sure there is not more going on in Tulo’s hip area. As Harding reported, the club suspects there could be an issue with the labrum in the hip and has sent Tulo to visit orthopedic surgeon Dr. Marc Philippon to find out more.

If there is labrum damage, Tulo could be shut down for the season, or he could continue treatment and get some playing time as the season winds down. Before the injury, Tulo was a contender for National League MVP. He still leads the NL in batting with a .340 average.

CarGo is dealing with what manager Walt Weiss described as “chronic tendinitis in his left knee.” That condition was made worse by a nagging sprained right ankle.

Depending on the kind of therapy he receives, Gonzalez could return to the field, or he could be shut down for the rest of the season. CarGo, placed on the disabled list on Sunday, is He is hitting just .238 with 11 homers and has an on-base percentage of just .292.
