Colorado’s State Fair is Aug. 22-Sept. 1 in Pueblo. Eleven days of concerts, fair food, a livestock sale, carnival rides, parades, a demolition derby and more. Ticket prices per event vary, with many free attractions and events.

Wine fest in Cortez

The Food, Wine and Art Festival in Cortez is Aug. 22-24. The weekend features a gourmet winemaker’s dinner Aug. 22, $75, followed by tastings of local wines, breads, cheeses and olive oils, with fine-art display and live music. Aug. 22 dinner reservations are required. Festival admission is $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

Evergreen arts fest

Evergreen’s 48th annual Fine Arts Festival is Aug. 23-24 at Heritage Grove Park in downtown Evergreen. Artists from all over the nation will display their original work, with food and live performances throughout the weekend.

Hit the trail

Hike with a ranger in Trinidad Aug. 24 on the Levsa Canyon Trail. The 90-minute hike begins at 6 p.m. at Trinidad Lake and will explore the trail’s ecosystem and local history. The hike is free with a park pass, and children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
