BOULDER — After missing most of the first two weeks of Colorado’s August camp, junior defensive end Tyler Henington has returned and is doing well, CU coach Mike MacIntyre said Monday.

Henington (6-foot-2 and 245 pounds) is a former high school standout at Mullen. Following spring ball, Henington was listed as a starter at defensive end.

However, he sprained an ankle during CU’s first practice session of August camp, on Aug. 2. He returned to play in Saturday’s scrimmage.

“He’s moving around,” MacIntyre said. “He did well in the scrimmage, so I don’t expect any residual effects on that at all.”

Henington began at CU as a defensive tackle but has dropped at least 20 pounds to becoming quicker following his move to defensive end.

“He’ll get thrown into the mix,” MacIntyre said. “He’s a guy who has played some. He showed the ability to rush the passer in the spring. We hope he will do that this fall.”
