BOULDER — After reviewing film of Saturday’s scrimmage, Colorado football coach Mike MacIntyre said his team appears to be understanding concepts — offensively and defensively.
“I thought that (in the scrimmage) we made plays on both sides of the ball,” MacIntyre said Monday following a morning practice.
“The running backs made some good plays. I thought the receivers and the (defensive backs) did. So did the lines.
“Overall, I thought we understand the schemes.”
Special teams did not evoke the same rave reviews.
“That was our first time going live with the special teams,” MacIntyre said. “So it was a little sloppy. But we’re much further ahead than we were at this time last year.”
MacIntyre said a tentative depth chart has been determined, but “it’s a pencil depth chart.” He added that he may not release a depth chart to the media “until, really, the day of the (first) game, almost.”
Colorado opens the season against Colorado State in the annual Rocky Mountain Showdown — a Friday night affair this year, on Aug. 29 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High (7 p.m. kickoff).
