1 Meth user carries BB gun. An admitted meth user sitting outside King Soopers, 8055 Sheridan Blvd., Arvada, on Aug. 8 was ordered at gunpoint by a police officer to put his hands up and lay on the ground. Employees reported the man had entered the store with a visible gun in his backpack, which turned out to be a BB gun. The man said he was homeless and living in a car next to McDonald’s. He was released.

2 Paranoid neighbors.
Homeowners in the 6000 block of Hoyt Court in Arvada called police Aug. 8 to report their neighbor had devised an electromagnetic pulse using a fuse connected to a disposable camera to disable one of their four security cameras. The neighbor denied this and said the flash was from a thunderstorm. The reporting party said they’d contact the FAA.

3 Good deed punished. A husband and wife who let a homeless family they met at the Home Depot live in a camper at their house in the 6400 block of Harlan Street in Arvada arrived home to find the family had stolen their vehicle Aug. 8. Police recovered the truck at a Taco Bell.

4 BMW eludes police. A white BMW was speeding at Interstate 70 and Wadsworth Boulevard on Aug. 11. The officer ended pursuit when the BMW sped into oncoming traffic.

5 Window smashed. A homeowner in the 6100 block of Ames Street, Arvada, returned from a week- long vacation Aug. 12 to discover someone had used a shovel from his garage to shatter his back door’s window. Nothing was missing from the house. Damage was estimated at $400.
