1 Multiple arrests at Motel 6. On Aug. 9, Lakewood police officers responded to Motel 6, 480 Wadsworth Blvd., after a cab driver reported three women fled without paying their $23 fare. In the room, police found nine adults and juveniles, and one infant. No one in the room was older than 20, and there was evidence of alcohol and marijuana use. Six of the people were found to be lying about their identities, and five were found to have arrest warrants.

2 DUI biker. On Aug. 19, an Edgewater police officer on patrol noticed a motorcyclist weaving in traffic in the area of 20th Avenue and Pierce Street. When the motorcyclist was contacted, officers determined he had been driving under the influence. The 59-year-old Lakewood man was arrested for DUI, weaving, no proof of insurance and operating a motor vehicle while his driver’s license was suspended as an habitual traffic offender due to multiple prior serious traffic offenses.

3 Hot dog. On Aug. 8, a Lakewood police officer responded to the parking lot of Whole Foods, 444 S. Wadsworth Blvd., in reference to a dog left inside a vehicle. The dog was panting and visibly distressed. The car was parked in the sun, and it was measured to be at least 100 degrees inside the vehicle. The owner was issued a summons for animal cruelty.

4 False alarm. On Aug. 20, police officers responded to the 5900 block of West 26th Avenue in Edgewater regarding a report of a subject with a rifle on an apartment roof who had assaulted a victim in the street. Neither a victim nor the subject could be located and no crime could be confirmed.
