The South Metro Fire Department said an explosion that occurred Friday night in Centennial was likely the result of a prank.

The incident happened in a two-story building at 6961 S. Quentin Street. A small package exploded, drawing crews to the scene at about 9:45 p.m. No one was injured and there was no structural damage to the building, a South Metro Fire spokesperson said. Hazmat and bomb squad teams investigated at the building, which is located in a heavily industrial area just north of Centennial Airport. They came to the conclusion that it was an isolated incident that wasn’t meant to cause harm.

The fire department spokesman said the Arapahoe County Sheriff was also conducting its own investigation to determine whether any criminal charges would be filed in connection with the explosion.
