WASHINGTON — Democrat Mark Udall has opened a small lead on Republican Cory Gardner in their hotly-contested race for U.S. Senate, released this week by NBC News/Marist.

The survey, which included 795 likely voters and 976 registered voters in Colorado, found that Udall, the incumbent, was up six points — 48 percent to 42 percent.

Thatap outside the 3.1 percent margin of error but would not reflect voters’ responses to , as the poll was conducted Sept. 2 to Sept. 4.
