It was not so long ago that many were calling for the United States to intervene in Syria against the ruling regime. Now many are calling for us to intervene against the Islamic State, Syria’s most formidable opponent. Not knowing which side to support should give us pause. Have we learned nothing about getting involved in the Middle East?
