FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Wildlife officials say a black bear that was tranquilized died after falling about 35 feet from a tree in a Fort Collins park.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokeswoman Jennifer Churchill tells The Coloradoan (http://noconow.co/1BqDbal ) the agency tranquilized the 2 ½-year-old female bear after it climbed into a tree in Rolland Moore Park on Saturday night. Trappers were unable to set up a tarp to catch the bear before it fell.
Churchill says that after the fall, there were no reported injuries to the animal, which had been tagged as a nuisance.
The bear died Sunday, the same day it was scheduled to be relocated.
