Broncos tight end Julius Thomas, a Stockton, Calif. native, was after he caught seven passes for 104 yards and three touchdowns in Denver’s opener against the Colts on Sunday.

It was the first such honor for Thomas, who also tied a team record (with Shannon Sharpe) for a tight end with his three TDs.

The Broncos followed the AFC honor by giving Thomas with a pretty sweet parking spot at the team’s training facility in Dove Valley. And on Thursday, Lakers coach Byron Scott — knowing Thomas is a diehard Purple and Gold fan — followed with his own congratulatory message to Thomas while on “The Julius Thomas Show” on 102.3/105.5 ESPN.
