Re: Electric vehicles moving in the market, slowly, Sept. 11 business news story.

I was disappointed in your report on how low range affects sales of electric cars.

With a range exceeding 350 miles, I am not sure how my Chevrolet Volt fits into the article. The article then departs from range issues: The Volt is called pokey when compared with some other vehicles. What other vehicles? A Ferrari? As for sport mode affecting the range of the Volt, the statement affects driving distance is an unqualified comparison. Sport mode affects the electric range and takes maybe 2 to 3 percent off the Volt s total full-tank driving distance.

If a comparison is made between the ranges of electric vehicles, you need to reference the actual range of the vehicle and the context of how people use the car. Unqualified, generic statements about range or pokey -ness are not helpful in educating or informing the public.
