The Wheat Ridge commercial district, Ridge at 38, has won a 2014 Governor’s Award for Downtown Excellence from Downtown Colorado Inc.

The effort behind bolstering Ridge at 38, a stretch of 38th Avenue that is being re-branded as a pedestrian-friendly downtown core, was recognized in the “Best Marketing and Branding” category.

“We are pleased to be recognized for crafting a new identity for an area that has become a vital city core,” Wheat Ridge Mayor Joyce Jay said.

The Ridge at 38 Leadership Committee is made up of business owners, property owners, residents and stakeholders.
