LITTLETON, CO - SEPTEMBER 4: James Neisler is suing Arapahoe County Jail because of the lack of medical care he received, while in jail. All the toes on his right foot have been amputated. Neisler, a diabetic, developed blisters on his feet while wearing steel-toed-boots during a work program. The blisters became gangrene and then a bone infection. He emotionally talked about how he went to jail with all 10 toes and left with only has five. He was at Clement Park in Littleton on Thursday, September 4 , 2014. Re: “Man sues after losing five toes in Arapahoe County jail,” Sept. 13 news story.

James Neisler, a diabetic, developed blisters on his feet during a work program in the Arapahoe County jail. That led to a bone infection, and he had to have five toes amputated. (Cyrus McCrimmon, The Denver Post)

Our prayers go out to James Neisler over the outrageously unattended suffering he experienced from June 17 to Aug. 22 at the hands of unbelievably incompetent and uncaring staff at the Arapahoe County jail. To ignore Neisler’s urgent cries for medical attention for his rapidly deteriorating foot condition, due to diabetes, is unconscionable. Those responsible should have been terminated long before the last of his right toes were amputated in September.

We hope his legal action results in compensation commensurate with his suffering and future medical costs.
