1 Possible beer brand scam. A resident of the 17000 block of West Colfax Avenue called Golden Police on Sept. 3 to report a suspicious incident. She said she replied to a Craigslist ad asking car owners to wrap their vehicle with a Budweiser ad in exchange for $400 per week. The woman became suspicious of the process when she was sent a check from a Pennsylvania school. Police sent text messages to the suspect, who they believed became suspicious. The case was closed.
2 Rooting roommates. Golden police went to the areaof La Veta Pass Avenue on Sept. 3, where the resident reported items missing from he believed were taken by former roommates he evicted. One roommate who was contacted denied stealing the photos of Patrick Roy, Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg and Adam Foote, a portable grill, 3 pounds of ground beef and a set of Tupperware that were reported missing.
3 Scam snuffed out. On Sept. 9, a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy went to Mutual of Omaha Bank, 26679 Pleasant Park Road, Evergreen, where an employee said a customer there withdrew money to get his grandson out of jail. The deputy identified the claim his grandson was in jail as a known phone scam. He was able to contact the scammer, who admitted to taking hundreds of dollars a week through a fake bail bond scam over the phone. He said he would not call the man again.
4 Red Box allegedly damaged. On Sept. 2, employees of Loaf ‘n Jug, 102 N. Ruby Drive, reported a Red Box was damaged between Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. There were no suspects. It was fixed when officers arrived.
