BOULDER — Following Colorado’s Monday practice, Buffs coach Mike MacIntyre was asked to give an early scouting report on California.
Colorado (2-2, 0-1 Pac-12) plays at California (2-1, 0-1) on Saturday.
for MacIntyre’s first (and only) conference victory.
“To me, Cal is really, really improved,” MacIntyre said. “Sonny (Dykes’) offense is clicking like it used to at Louisiana Tech. It’s clicking on all cylinders and the quarterback (Jared Goff) makes great throws.”
The Bears (1-11 in 2013) come off a stunning 49-45 loss at Arizona. Cal led by 22 points at halftime but yielded 36 points in the fourth quarter and lost on a “Hail Mary” pass into the end zone on the game’s final play.
“Except for that fourth quarter (at Arizona), they’ve played really good defense,” MacIntyre said. “I’m impressed with how well they’re playing on defense compared to last year. I’ve known Sonny a long time. They’re doing good.”
