A sampling of opinion of Rockies fans about town Wednesday indicated little disagreement with the dismissal of general manager Dan O’Dowd and assistant GM Bill Geivett.
There also was some concern voiced about filling the general manager’s position from within with Jeff Bridich.
“I just figured the management would know what’s good for the team,” Christa Morrison of Parker said. “Maybe it will breathe new life into the team. We have Broncos pride, and I’d love to get some Rockies pride in town.”
Added Clint Miller, a bartender at City Grille: “He (Bridich) seems a little young. A change had to be made, especially after this season.”
Irving Watts of Denver was surprised it took so long.
“I thought it was going to happen over the summer,” Watts said. “It was time.”
Laurie Lyons of Denver knew something was wrong.
“When something isn’t working, you better look at it,” she said. “When somebody has to go, it could be any one of the moving parts: player, coach, owner.”

Brad McDonnell of Denver was concerned about hiring from within.
“The new GM was part of what was going on this season,” McDonald said. “But if it keeps them out of last place, I’m for it.”
“I hope they start making some better trades,” said Sean Haley of Denver. “Oakland and Florida seem to be able to build teams. Our good players deserve to be on a good team.”
