The Met comes back to the movies in HD
Saturday. The Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD series returns for a ninth season Oct. 11, and the comeback looks promising, with super soprano Anna Netrebko starring in “MacBeth.” Verdi instilled Shakespeare’s popular title with a lot to sing about: murder, marital troubles and plenty of guilt to go around. Željko Lucic sings the title role in a production helmed by Royal Shakespeare Company Artistic Director Adrian Noble. The Saturday morning series, which starts at 10:55 a.m. sharp, continues with nine transmissions through the spring at dozens of theaters across Colorado. Every event is followed with a (not live) encore screening at 6:30 p.m. on the following Wednesday. Season titles include “The Marriage of Figaro” and “Carmen.” Tickets $18-$24.
