Getting your player ready...

Friday-Sunday. Pianist Olga Kern was born in Russia and lives in New York, but she’s an undeniable Colorado favorite. Kern performs here often, with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, at the music fests in Aspen and Vail. She even headlined a benefit last year at Denver’s historic Trinity Presbyterian Church. Locals have good reason to love her — Kern is an expressive player, versatile enough to offer a distinct program every time. This weekend, she offers a crowd-pleaser, soloing with the CSO on Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3. The program includes the rare “Blumine” movement from Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. James Judd conducts. 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10-11; 1 p.m. Oct. 12. Boettcher Concert Hall, Denver Performing Arts Complex. $22-$84. 303-623-7876 or
