family fun: The great pumpkin (patch), and ripe for the picking
friday-sunday. The Chatfield location of Denver Botanic Gardens has more room to spread out than its downtown counterpart, which makes it ideal for growing 10 acres of pumpkins. Chatfield’s annual Pumpkin Festival, which runs Oct. 10-12, includes pumpkin-picking from said patch, live music, carving demonstrations and even a giant game of Jenga. For kids, there are pony rides, carnival games, “monster hand” crafts, a photo opp with a live bull, face painting and more. On-site food vendors and free “pumpkin daycare” are also available (the latter with admission price), and a corn maze is right next door. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. 8500 W. Deer Creek Canyon Road in Littleton. $4-$7. Children under 2 are free. Pumpkin prices vary by size. 720-865-3500 or . John Wenzel
