Re: “Unprepared for Ebola threat,” Oct. 17 editorial.
The Denver Post editorial concerning the Ebola virus in the United States is spot on. We now learn the president has appointed an Ebola “czar.” Given the resources of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, this appointment might resemble Nero designating a political appointee as fire czar while Rome burned. It is obvious that we do not have the medical resources to deal with the emerging Ebola crisis.
Mr. President, quit fiddling around. While the czar studies the Ebola condition, we need you to take immediate and bold steps to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the United States. To begin with, suspend foreign visas and send military to tighten control of our borders. Many Americans believe urgency is needed, whether your advisers believe it or not. Act now while the nation waits for recommendations from your Ebola czar.
