BOULDER — A judge increased the bail for Luke Pelham, a suspect in the beating death of Aaron Tuneberg, to $1 million after evidence arose that he was not always under direct supervision — a violation of his previous bail.
Pelham, 18, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of failing to comply with the bail. Per the conditions of his previous $200,000 bail, Pelham could not be outside of his home except while under the supervision of an approved adult, and he could be out in the community for a maximum of two hours a day.
But according to court records, prosecutors found a picture Pelham posted online of himself at a store Oct. 6 unsupervised with a girl. Police began surveillance on Pelham on Friday and noted several instances Saturday in which Pelham was not being supervised directly by an approved adult. At one point, Pelham went to a convenience store with some friends while his mother drove in a car nearby, but police noted Pelham’s mother then drove away.
