Prescribed burns in forested areas are planned in Douglas and Teller counties.
The U.S. Forest Service and Pike National Forest-Pikes Peak Ranger District will oversee the burns, weather and conditions permitting, according to a USDA forest service media release.
“Weather and wind conditions may affect the dates for ignition and fire personnel will determine if safe and effective ignition should take place,” the release said.
The burns enhance forest health and reduce fire fuels, the release said. Smoke will be visible during burn operations on U.S. Forest Service lands.
