Some businesses in Parker have been evacuated after a gasoline spill Tuesday afternoon.
Becky O’Guin, a spokeswoman for South Metro Fire & Rescue said some people working in the area of the spill were “sheltered,” as in not allowed to leave their buildings. O’Guin said the evacuation and order to remain in buildings would last until about 6 p.m.
Initial estimates said about 1,000 gallons of gas were spilled in the incident, however, later reports from South Metro Fire and Rescue put the amount somewhere between 150 and 230 gallons.
O’Guin said the spill may have occurred when a tanker truck was transferring gas to underground tankers at a station in the vicinity of Cottonwood Drive and Parker Road.
