A Denver program that involves youth in aviation and aerospace pursuits has received a $40,000 grant from The Daniels Fund.

The Herbert L. “Hooks” Jones Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., will receive a $20,000 grant Saturday during a ceremony at the , 7711 E. Academy Blvd.

An additional $20,000 can be rewarded as part of a “challenge” grant based on matching contributions by individuals or other civic-minded organizations, according to a Tuskegee media release.

The Mile High Flight program incorporates aviation, aerospace and the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen to engage local youth.

The program uses an original Tuskegee Airmen six-step principal, “Rise Above,” to inspire youth. The principals are:

• Aim High

• Believe in Yourself

• Use Your Brain

• Never Quit

• Be Ready to Go

• Expect to Win
