Police in Arvada say 157 cars were vandalized overnight Monday by a suspect or suspects who spray painted the letter “D” on the vehicles.

The vandalism occurred between Newcombe Street in the east and Robb Street in the west and between 66th Avenue in the south and 72nd Avenue in the north, police say.

“We don’t have any suspect information at the time,” said Sgt. Jeff Monziger. “In addition to vehicles, other objects were spray painted as well to include garage doors and boats.

“Pretty much if it was in the driveway or stationary it was fair game for the suspects for a letter ‘D’,” Monziger said.

Police called the damage “large-scale criminal mischief” and say they were first contacted about the vandalism about 2 a.m.

Police ask anyone with information about the tagging to call (720) 898-6900.
