FORT COLLINS — Colorado State sophomore wide receiver Rashard Higgins was in pads and participated in Wednesday’s practice to a very limited extent.
Rams coach Jim McElwain said that Higgins, who suffered a shoulder injury in , remained “questionable” for the upcoming Saturday home game against Hawaii.
Higgins also did some aqua-therapy work in a swimming pool, McElwain said.
For Higgins to be pronounced available for Hawaii, “quite simply he’d have to go through practice” on Thursday, McElwain said. “And then he would have to kind of say, ‘I’m ready,’ ” the CSU coach added.
Higgins leads the nation in receiving yards (1,280) and touchdown receptions (13).
Thursday and Friday’s practices are closed and players and coaches aren’t available to the media.
McElwain said that running back Jasen Oden Jr. (back) and cornerback DeAndre Elliott (hip), who missed the San Jose State game, are probable to play Saturday. “The way they’ve run around, they’re probably ready to go,” McElwain said. He said backup safety Jake Schlager (ankle) would remain out.
