Colorado was well-represented in a recent junior crew event.

Local rowers in Colorado Junior Crew, high school and eighth-graders, competed Nov. 2 in the 23rd annual Frostbite Regatta in Wichita, Kan.

It involved 30 students from Boulder-area schools that participated in the 1.7-mile head race on the Little Arkansas River and produced top ten finishes in 11 events.

Colorado Junior Crew competed against college teams, including the University of Colorado, Colorado State, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Kansas State, Wichita State, Nebraska, and Grand Valley, and 12 junior rowing clubs from six states. Twenty six teams and more than 400 participants competed .

Results highlights:

First place four-plus: Will Chambers (Fairview); Trae Pennington (Fairview); Soren Kloepfer (Fairview); Conner Hook (Silver Creek), with Emma Wernsdorfer (Boulder), coxswain.

Third place boys quad: Brendan Carr (Fairview) rowing with Joe Creek, Andy Reese and Forrest Quinlain of the Fort Collins Rowing Association.

Thurd place girls 8-plus: Saylor Strugar (Fairview); Hanna Lintukorpi (Fairview); Bailey Page (Monarch); Ashley Hererra (Silver Creek); Ashlyn Schultz (Fairview); Vada Smith (Boulder); Isabelle Goodacre (Boulder); Joey Roditis (New Vista); and Isabel Reeves (Fairview), coxswain.

CJC is for students in grades 8-12 and practices at Boulder Reservoir after school in the fall and spring, and also features summer camps. Information, www.cjcrew.org.
