The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has paid more than $130,000 to three commanders who have been on administrative leave since May, according to a county spokesman.

Mitchel Lincoln, Robert King and Rodney Gehrett were put on leave May 12. That was the same day the three commanders filed a complaint with the county accusing Sheriff Terry Maketa of sexual impropriety, discrimination, removing almost all oversight of the Sheriff’s Office annual budget and creating a hostile work environment. They also filed a complaint with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleging widespread “sexual favoritism” by Maketa.

A Sheriff’s Office spokesman said at the time that the commanders were not placed on leave as a result of their complaints.

Their status with the Sheriff’s Office remains in limbo as the EEOC continues to investigate the complaint.
