Jordyn Colter, Cherry Creek’s distance-running star, has committed to Cal-Berkeley.
Colter confirmed it over the weekend. She will compete in cross country and track for the Golden Bears.
“I’m really excited and itap going to be really fun,” Colter said. “The coaches and the teams there are really great. My aunt lives really close to Berkeley and I’m excited to see what I can do at the college level.”
Colter, who has had her bouts of dealing with injury and maintaining proper nutrition in her prep career, won the Class 5A cross country meet as a freshman; was fourth at the Foot Locker Nationals as a sophomore, when she also won the 800 meters and the 1,600 in 5A in track; and she repeated in both track events last spring as a junior.
She is considering exercise physiology as a major to possibly become a physical therapist.
The 17-year-old Colter, who has a 3.7 grade-point average, also considered other substantial schools – Iowa State, Washington, UCLA and North Carolina.
